Award-Winning Actress, Best-Selling Author Joins Non-Profit Board

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Washington, DC – May 23, 2011 – Victoria Rowell – an award-winning actress, New York Times best-selling author, and philanthropist – has joined the board of trustees of International Action, a non-profit organization currently providing clean water to nearly half a million Haitians.

International Action is a 501(c)(3) non-profit on Capitol Hill, installing water tanks and chlorinators in the most impoverished communities in Haiti. The group also delivers clean water to schools and internally displaced persons living in camps throughout Port-au-Prince.

Rowell brings a wealth of experience and talent to the non-profit as she herself is no stranger to non-profit work. As founder of the Rowell Foster Children Positive Plan, she has provided the opportunity for foster children to fulfill their limitless potential in the fine arts, sports, financial literacy, employment and education.

In the United States, many know Rowell through her various television and movie roles, most notably, as Drucilla Winters, on the successful soap opera, The Young and the Restless. International Action is looking forward to Rowell’s involvement with the group’s humanitarian efforts in Haiti. The recently started rainy season has already posed major water challenges to the people of Haiti. The group has recently scaled up its efforts to protect more camp residents through its water for internally displaced program.

The organization is currently looking for funding to expand its operations in order to reach more people with clean water.
