International Action recently installed one LF 1000 chlorinator in Domond; a town located about 15 km away from the city of Mirebalais. This neighborhood was formed under the government of Francois Duvalier. The Péligre dam project for the biggest hydrolelectric factory in the country, led the President to relocate people of the region who lost their land and goods in this small area now called Domond.

CESI, an international organization, built a 60 cubic meters reservoir on March 12, 2003 supplying water to over 10,000 residents. The town has been without clean water for 5 years. Domond is a very poor area where over 60% of the children of school age do not go to school. One the leaders had to fund a small school to reduce that number. But it really is a drop of water in the ocean.

According to local leaders the water quality is not appropriate for human consumption. They listed a few frequent diseases in the region: diarrhea, fever, vomiting in children, etc…

We received another load of applause from the residents of Domond when we completed the installation. We have performed all the tests, and everything is going well.
